Overview

Voltron, or to be more specific, Vehicle Voltron was broadcasted in Taiwan around 1985-1986.  Right before that, Lion Voltron was broadcasted, and both cartoon or animation (anime) shows were very popular and sensational during that time.  I didn't know that both Voltron shows were also very popular in North America until I visited a 80's website a while ago.  Which really made me to quite miss the shows, since I like them very much.

The title Voltron of both Voltron shows were translated in Chinese as "Saint Warrior", and I just feel the name fits both of the big robots quite well.  The Lion Voltron was commonly known or referred to as the first generation Saint Warrior, and the Vehicle Voltron was known as the second generation Saint Warrior.  Both are quite good looking big robots, and each has its own special features.  However, one common feature shared by both Voltrons is the cross.  Lion Voltron has a big cross on its chest, while Vehicle Voltron has a cross on its forehead.  Since Vehicle Voltron is the main topic here, so we will discuss more about Vehicle Voltron.

Vehicle Voltron Consists of fifteen different vehicles, of which, five are air vehicles, five are sea vehicles, and five are land vehicles.  Thus which divides the fifteen vehicles into three teams accordingly, namely the air, sea, and land team.  The five vehicles in each team can be combined into a bigger vehicle to further enhance the ability of travelling and fighting capacity for the region that each team is designated to travel.  The idea of having the three different teams is quite clever, because which is just like the three different armies of the real world.  However, what is much much better is, the three teams can be combined to form a much bigger robot that has the fighting ability that is almost undefeatable!  By the way, to be a little realistic about this, in the episodes of Chinese version after the fifteen vehicles have combined to form the Vehicle Voltron, all fifteen pilots shout out "The world's invincible Saint Warrior!"

Something that is so interesting and exciting in both Voltron shows is probably the moment of transforming and combining, because which is quite catching attention, and also feel a sense of time to defeat the enemy.  With all of both Voltrons' powerful weapons and their most powerful sword, as is called in Chinese "The invincible making-evil-surrendering sword," Voltrons will always be invincible!
